Half-term fun in Bromley

Half-term fun in Bromley
Lots to do in our local area!

We are very lucky at Banana Moon Bromley, that we have so many things to do, on our very doorstep!

Half Term can be a busy, and lively time of the year but nevertheless a time to spend with family. This year especially, we are all facing some challenges and could be unsure as to what there is to do this side of a global pandemic. While we’re not completely out of the woods with that situation, we are certainly nearing the light at the end of the tunnel. So there is every reason to get out there and have a fun half term. There are certainly many fun and interesting places to go to in and around Bromley. Here are some of our favourites.

CHUCHILL THEATRE
As things have gradually returned to normal we should remind ourselves the kinds of activities that are becoming available to us again. Churchill Theatre Bromley has reopened and the Theatre is a safe place that has taken all precautions to reopen their doors to the public.

Once again there are a selection of shows for all age groups. Children’s shows include ‘Johnny Ball’, ‘What The Lady Bird Heard’, ‘The Gingerbread Man’ and many more. If you don’t manage to go this half term then Christmas is fast approaching, it’s getting to that time of year in which a pantomime is in order. Honestly it’s overdue, it’s been far too long since last bellowing the golden words “He’s behind you!!”.
Follow @churchill_bromley to keep up to date with their shows.

SHAFTESBURY PARK
Not every trip this half-term has to be an extended trip away. Sometimes the cheaper, natural option is just as good. We recommend a trip to one of the local parks near our nursery. Having young children means that a trip to the park is always a good option for the day. Your little ones will love the adventure and exercise that is to be had at the park. Shaftesbury Park is a great location that is in close proximity to the nursery at just a 12 minute stroll away. The park has a large green area of grass and trees with walkways that make for easy access to the playground apparatus that is perfect for children of all ages, big to small.

MyTime Active The Pavilion
The Pavilion is one of a number of MyTime Active Leisure Centres that can be found all around the Borough of Bromley. Within the leisure centre there are a number of facilities that perfect for the whole family. For the little ones The Pavilion offers The Buzz Zone which is a children’s soft-play area. This area is located next to the Arcade and Bowling lanes. There are many games that can be played here. If you’re looking for a more family themed day out then there is also the walk-in family swimming pool in which maintains a temperature perfect for babies, so even our younger ones can go. Over the half term they are running family splash sessions which come at a discounted price and include use of their flumes (water slides). The pool area was recently refurbished in 2020 so now is as good a time as ever to visit the fresh facilities.

BROMLEY FOOTBALL CLUB
If sport is more your thing you could take the kids to go see local legends doing what they do best. Our local football team are a sight to see playing at the Hayes Lane ground with a capacity of 5,000. They are playing a blockbuster game against Notts County on 26th October. Having won 5 of their last 5 this match looks exciting to see the team secure a sixth straight win in the league. Going to see the team play with a rich history of 129 years is certainly a great incentive to get out of the house this half term.

CHRISTMAS TREE FARM
Another brilliant destination for the whole family is the Christmas tree farm located in Orpington. The farm is extremely family friendly with a variety of animals including, sheep, llamas, rabbits, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, etc. Their website states that all of their animals can be fed and stroked, making a more hands on and exciting experience for everyone. The farm is open all year around and is open in October between the hours of 10.00am to 4:30pm.

We hope you have lots of fun! And to all our parents, remember you can upload your pictures to the Blossom app, so we can share with the children when they are back in the nursery. See you all soon.
